2024: A Landmark Year for Indian Pulses Exports

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has published India's export volume statistics for December 2024. During this month, India exported a total of 54 thousand metric tonnes of pulses, marking a significant increase from the 40 thousand metric tonnes recorded in December 2023.

According to customs data, India exported a total of 729 thousand metric tonnes of pulses from January to December 2024, surpassing the 688 thousand metric tonnes exported during the same period in 2023. This achievement represents the highest export volume in the country's history. Additionally, India's pulse exports have exhibited consistent growth over the past five years.

Trade movement data for the 2024 calendar year indicates that Bangladesh emerged as the largest importer, accounting for 31% of India's pulse exports. It was followed by China at 11%, the UAE at 10%, and the USA at 5%.
