As of May 5, 2025, wheat procurement in India has reached 25.51 million metric tonnes (MMT), marking a 13% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Thanks to strong coordination between central and state governments, the procurement drive is progressing efficiently across key wheat-producing regions. Punjab continues to lead with over 11 MMT procured so far—more than any other state.
As the MY 2025-26 wheat procurement continues for several more weeks, the question remains: Will the Government meet its 33.27 MMT target?
