Canada’s pulse exports recorded a remarkable surge in September 2026, reaching their highest monthly level in six years. Newly released customs data show that shipments increased by 210% compared with August, highlighting a significant acceleration in international demand and export activity.
The strong performance is further reflected in cumulative shipments. During January–September 2026, Canada’s pulse exports already exceeded the total volume recorded for the entire 2025 calendar year by 5%, indicating exceptionally strong export momentum.
The surge has been largely driven by robust buying interest from China, India and other South Asian countries, which continue to play an important role in shaping global pulses trade flows. Strong demand from these destinations has supported higher Canadian shipments and strengthened the country’s position as a key supplier in international markets.
The latest figures highlight the growing importance of export demand in determining Canada's pulses market outlook. Continued buying interest from major importing countries could further influence shipment volumes, global supply availability, and international price trends in the coming months.
