As per the custom data released, India achieved a new monthly record in the export of chickpeas. It exported 48.77 KMT of chickpeas (all varieties) in June 2022, compared to 4.62 KMT in the same period last year. 

In the first six months of 2022, the country exported more chickpeas aka chana aka gram than in entire 2021. The biggest destinations have been UAE, Iran, Algeria, and China.

Most of the Indian exports have traditionally been the large calibre Kabuli variety but now has been active in desi chickpeas as well. For Jun’2022, Kabuli (all calibres) export volume was only 40% of the total.
