Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position as a key global player in the production and export of pulses, particularly in lentils, where it holds a strong competitive edge. Recently released trade data from Kazakhstan’s Customs for February 2026 highlights the country’s exceptional export performance during the 2025/26 marketing year (MY), covering the period from July 2025 to February 2026.
During this timeframe, Kazakhstan exported approximately 470 thousand metric tonnes (KMT) of pulses, marking a substantial 38% increase compared to the same period in the previous marketing year. Notably, this figure also exceeds the total exports recorded for the entire 2024/25 marketing year by 14%, reflecting robust growth in the sector.
Lentils remain the cornerstone of Kazakhstan’s pulse exports, accounting for nearly 80% of the total shipments during MY 2025/26 (July–February). This dominance further highlights the country’s increasing specialization and global competitiveness in lentil production and trade.
The strong export momentum has enabled Kazakhstan to achieve a new record in pulse exports for the current marketing year. Among its key trading partners, Turkey stands out as the primary destination, absorbing 73% of Kazakhstan’s pulse exports during the July 2025 to February 2026 period.
